PostSubject: Revy Izumi vs Rainen   Tue Jul 19, 2011 7:38 pm

The young Akatsuki member entered the “arena”. The location for his spar with an unknown opponent was what once had been the ruins a temple somewhere in a forest. The once brick floor was now simply soil and grass with a few patches of brick here and there. The roof was long gone, and there were only a few of the many pillars left that used to surround the large square room. Only one wall, the wall at the far end, was still (barely) standing. If one would head down the stairs from the old building, one would find a large courtyard containing two statues the size of houses. A long time ago, during the days the temple was still inhabited my monks, the statues would’ve looked like two majestic dragons. But nowadays the stone structures were so ravaged and covered in vegetation that it was impossible to see what they would’ve resembled. This courtyard was about two times as large as the temple room; thirty by forty meters. If one would cross the thirty meters from staircase to the end, he or she would find a large, ravaged wall with an opening that was once protected by a massive gate.

Rainen took a seat on one of the two dragon statues and waited for his opponent. He had no information whatsoever on who this individual might be. He or she could be anything, from a lowly Genin to one of the five Kage. Of course he hoped for a strong opponent. After all, defeating someone strong would only make him seem more impressive.

Slowly making her way through one of the thin hallways of stairs was the Mizukage. One of the 5 Great Kage's. The Mizukage, being the Kage of the Kirigakure, the Village Hidden in the Mist. As she made her way down the stairs, in the tight fit hallway, she came to an opening where she had entered a large courtyard, with 2 time destroyed statues that stood on each side of the courtyard. They were as large as a house, and looked as old as time itself. Making her way out into the courtyard, she revealed herself. Instead of wearing a Mizukage robe and hat, she instead wore an outfit that she preferred.
Spoiler:

Not only was she wearing her regular outfit, she also had on a thin, loose, and short coat on that was buttoned up in the center. The coat was thin, and pretty loost, thus it created a gap as it hung down past her breasts, between it and her. It's length was rather short, leaving her stomach and back partially exposed, though still wrapped in her white wrappings, excluding the small slit that remains open on her stomach, where her skin is visible. The coat had a hood on it, which was up, and around her lower face, being her nose, mouth, and chin, was a white scarf. It hid most of her face, as the only exposed features of her face were her black bangs, and her dark blue eyes. She only stood around 5'4", rather short for her age and position. As she made her way to the center of the courtyard, she noticed the blue haired man sitting atop one of the statues in the distance. Stopping in her tracks, she turned and faced him, fully knowing why he was here.

Rainen turned to the sound of someone walking into the courtyard. He slowly got u, cracking his knuckles at the sight of the woman. She was rather short, but Rainen was only slightly taller himself at about 5'7". She was still far away. Well outside of the reach of his scythe, even in long-range mode. He would have to close in on her first, but he had to do so without giving his opponent the time to react. Without saying a word, he dropped back, down from the statue which would now completely hide him from the woman’s sight. While still falling, he performed a seal.

”Kage Bunshin no Jutsu!”

Two clones landed on the ground next to him, both of them about the same strength as Rainen. It wasn’t a cheap technique in terms of chakra, but it was well worth its cost when used correctly. Now, all three clones performed hand seals, as they would quickly sink into the ground. The three Rainens would travel through the ground towards the opponents location. Even if she would’ve moved, the clones would’ve pinpointed her location through the sound of her footsteps vibrating through the earth.

The three Rainens suddenly bursted from the ground surrounding the woman in a triangle formation, the two clones in front of her and the real Rainen behind her. The scythe of the clone to her right was already glowing with Wind Release chakra. They were about five meters away from her. Immediately, they would attack. The clone to her right literally jumped out of the ground, directly into the air, and quickly brought his knees to his stomach while pointing his scythe outward. Immediately, he would spin around and dash forward at the woman like a white, high-speed, human-size shuriken. The clone on her right gratefully used the distraction caused by the flashy ninjutsu to make one single seal. One seal was all he needed to turn the ground below the Kage into sticky mud that would bind her in place if she didn’t quickly focus chakra on her feet, assuming she wasn’t distracted by the rather flashy scythe technique.. The Rainen behind her, the real one, would quickly pull back the sleeve of his Akatsuki robe and unleash a volley of poisoned senbon at her back from the launcher around his arm.

Revy watched as the man atop the statue fell behind it, and outside of her sight. Rather then reacting, she awaited to see what this guy could do. After only a few seconds of standing there, she noticed 3 people come out of the ground below. Those 3 of which, all being the same person. And 2 of which were obvious clones of some type, but what kind, Revy wasn't exactly sure. They were all at a fair distance, forming a triangle around her. One had attempted to trap her by stirring up mud below her, another one formed a human shuriken using his scythe, and because of her high awareness of her surroundings. She knew a projectile attack had been launched from behind. That, and noticing that this one was still at a distance, by looking over her shoulder. With just enough time to react, Revy immediately jumped into the air at an angle. While in the air, she twisted upside down, facing the three, watching as their attacks had possibly hit each other, or just barely missing. Mostly between the human shuriken, and the senbon that had been launched. After passing her view as she spun slightly, she landed on the ground, back facing the Akatsuki member, and immediately turned around, launching a wave of 3 shuriken towards the group of 3.

She hadn't planned on getting serious yet, but when the time comes, she will have to take this battle seriously.

The real Rainen quickly sidestepped to avoid the human shuriken. The small senbon had been easily deflected by the spinning scythe, but the clone quickly realized he had missed his target pure from the fact that he hadn’t felt his scythe tear through flesh and bone yet. Cancelling the technique by interrupting the flow of wind chakra, the spinning stopped and the clone, still a wee bit dizzy but not so badly that it hampered his combat ability by much, landed on the ground a bit in front of the real Rainen just as the shuriken came his way. In the meantime, the clone that had used the mud technique and the real Rainen were already making new hand seals. Thinking quickly, the clone that had used the scythe technique sidestepped right into the path of the shuriken, holding his scythe with its long pole horizontally in front of him. The three shuriken bounced off the pole with a metallic sound.

The three Rainens ran up to the woman, reaching within five meters of her fast. The clone in the back had already finished his string of hand seals as his technique would now activate. The earth around the woman would start to rise and form into an earth dome around her, trapping her inside. The dome was hardly big enough for her to stand in. The real Rainen had also finished his and made spikes of earth rise from the ground below the woman, who could not dodge inside the dome of earth. Even if she would’ve made her way out by somehow destroying the dome from within, she would quickly have to react to the other clone who had jumped into the air and was diagonally above the dome, unleashing a rain of senbon enhanced with wind at the dome from the top of his scythe, turning it (or the woman depending on her next move) into a pin cushion.

”Keh… not bad, making it out of that last attack alive.. But can you keep up?”, the clone yelled.

PostSubject: Re: Revy Izumi vs Rainen   Tue Jul 19, 2011 11:39 pm

Just at that moment, as they charged Revy, it was time for her to get serious. They seemed to enjoy ganging up on their prey using multiple Jutsu all at once in an attempt to overwhelm their enemy. This of course, most likely wouldn't work on Revy, as she;s fought many people like this before. As the 3 charged Revy, with great speed, she immediately held one hand seal in front of her chest. Turning slightly, so her side was them as they charged, her hand seal had disappeared, and the courtyard became rather dim. Before the 3 got in position with their Jutsu, Revy placed her hand on the sword on her back, pulling it off immediately. Doing so ripped up the scabbard, which was made of a thin cloth, wrapped in the same white wrapping she wore over her. Leaping to the side quickly, she managed to avoid the radius of the earth dome, but just managed to avoid the spikes of earth, which ripped the bottom of her left pant leg slightly as it shot up. This of course, began to annoy Revy. Immediately after sliding to a stop, she drew a shuriken from behind her and launched it at the airborne clone, who would have no method of dodging that single shuriken, due to him being airborne, and possibly with his guard down due to just casting an aerial Jutsu.

As the shuriken flew through the air with devastating speed at the clone, Revy turned her attention to the other two who were still on the ground, after casting ground based attacks. She immediately began stringing hand seals together at an insane speed, just after letting go of her grip on her sword, given that she was unbelievably fast in forming hand seals, and slammed her fist on the ground immediately after. What she had done was not cast a single Jutsu, but rather executed 2.

The rain began to pick up, after that single hand seal used by Revy earlier in the fight, as the clouds had finished forming, and before the rain could even be released from the clouds, it was immediately used to create a large spear of rain, high within the clouds. That of course, is what required the hand seals. When Revy slammed her fist onto the ground, she executed a second Jutsu which required no hand seals. The ground where she had slammed her fist cratered in slightly, and chipped earth crushed in, and up around her fist. Not from brute strength, but rather from the devistating lightning chakra that had immediately began surging through the ground. The moment she slammed her fist, a wave of static lightning had shot out, traveling along the ground at a 90 degree angle, directly for the 2 ground units that had used the earth techniques. The static lightning ripped and tore through the ground as it made it's way to them, ripping up pieces of the ground, toppling loose particles, and crushing anything in it's way. As the wave of lightning made it's way towards the two land units, the giant spear within the clouds had immediately launched down at an angle, in attempt to smash against both land units as well, but at a slight angle. Once the spear had crashed down, it would mix with the lightning generated on the ground, and even if they were to dodge, there was a very high chance that the electrified splash created from the spear of water would splash their way and shock them.

And on that note, the Rain had become powerful. A saying used to speak of the Mizukage's power. She is both the Mist, and the Rain. As the rain viciously came down in waves, and the sky got dark, the sound of lightning cutting through the ground somewhat imitated the sound of thunder. Revy placed her hand back on the handle of her sword, which lied on the ground beside her, as she was kneeled down slightly. This akatsuki was no longer fighting a human, but fighting against a storm itself.

The girl was fast. And dodgy. It was annoying. Despite his love for combat, Rainen always grew quickly annoyed with opponents who wouldn’t get hit. The best part of combat was, after all, the victorious moment where he could finish off the wounded opponent as humiliatingly as possible. If she was going to keep dancing around his attacks much longer as well, it seemed like he would have to bring out his friends. The clone would take one hand of his scythe and, as the volley of senbon left his scythe, perform a single seal. He then blew a load of wind from his mouth, stirring. The strong wind blew him out of the shuriken’s trajectory just as the shuriken passed right past him. He then turned in midair facing the ground while reaching into his pocket. Just as his opponent would’ve slammed the ground, three kunai would’ve sunk into the ground surrounding her in a triangle. This triangle was much smaller and the kunai were hardly a meter from each other. A small important detail: they had explosive tags attached to them. The clone had already formed a seal while the kunai were flying through the sky towards their destination, and the explosion of the tags was timed so that they would explode hardly a split second after they would’ve hit the ground, leaving the Kage with barely any time to react let alone get out of the blast radius in time. Especially considering she would’ve still been crouched or at least bended over to reach the ground

The clone landed about a meter behind and a meter right of the triangle. Black smoke rose from the area of the explosion. He was positioned next to the smog, facing the other two Rainen’s. That’s when he saw something from the top of his eyesight coming down right at them.”Above you!”, he shouted. The two looked up and their eyes widened. They quickly jumped back just a mere second before the spear would’ve pierced them. In the air they were also save for the lightning that was now crackling underneath them, but there was one final problem. The splashes of water, infused with lightning, coming their way. Both of them performed another hand seal and used the same technique as the former clone to quickly blow themselves out of danger. They landed on the ground not far from the electrified ground. From their position, they could see the other clone standing there in the rain.

Just after the rain began picking up heavily, and pouring down, sometimes at an angle, the clones and the Akatsuki had reacted to Revy's attack by jumping back, and using their wind technique to create more distance, and away from the gushing wave of electrified water that splashed their way. Not only that, but the clone that was in the air above the earth dome had also shot what looked like a barrage of Senbon, and launched 3 kunai. But little did the Kage know, exploding tags were placed on these 3 Kunai. Reacting to the Senbon that was launched, the little bit of senbon that was left anyway, after some of it colided with the Shuriken Revy had thrown. Her reaction to that was to jump back immediately, but upon doing so, the 3 kunai the clone had also launched at her pierced the ground immediately, and exploded. As she skid back on the now wet ground, she placed her hands across her face in order to brace herself from the pressure of the explosions, and loose gravel or rock that may have been shot around from the explosion up in front of her. The explosion was big, but not enough to reach, or land any wounds on her. Revy noticed the explosion created a thick smoke after the blast, which she;d use to her advantage. Immediately stringing together hand seals, 3 doppelgangers appeared, created from water. Two beside her, and one behind her. Using the smoke as a mask to block their sight, she immediately ran into the smoke, now hidden from the 3. While in the smoke, she launched a kunai directly to the Clone that had previously been in the air. Wile standing still waiting for a sign of life, and possibly the feel of victory, he'd never expect the kunai to zip right through him at an instant. The 3 doppelgangers created assisted Revy, 2 of which ran out from the smoke, across the now flooded ground of which the lightning had died out in, and with quick speed, attempted to slash their swords at the other two further from the first, being the real Rainen, and a clone with him. This was simple meant to give them the thought that they were making a basic attack, something they;d be able to parry, or avoid in counter. The moment they got close enough, they positioned themselves between each of the Akatsuki, and rather then swinging their swords at an angle towards them, they dropped their swords and backed into each other, and one begin stringing hand seals at a very fast pace. With it's insane speed in hand seals, that which is because they are clones of Revy, they both immediately exploded into nearly thousands of nails similar to Senbon in every direction. Because it was used on both clones, double the amount of nails was sent in every direction, at point blank speed towards the real Rainen, and the clone with him. But, just before this had fully happened, the third clone created remained in the smoke of which began clearing up, but not enough to where she was visible. While in the smoke she strung some seals together and placed the palm of her hand on the ground. Doing so seeded lightning chakra into the ground, and only mere moments after, as the two other clones had just finished their hand seals, bolts of lightning jumped up out of the ground, hitting both clones, and electrifieing them just as they exploded into the nails. Doing so, sent a barrage of electrified nails made of water towards both the real Rainen, and the clone. As well as possibly the clone that the kunai had been launched at, if it somehow managed to survive. Not only did 2 bolts strike at the clones, but a 3rd jumped up directly behind the real Rainen, close enough to skid along his back, still shocking him. If he had planned on jumping back to create distance from the nails or the clones, he'd jump right over the spike, taking the full shock, plus more, as he was already soaked from the pouring rain. Or so Revy thought, at least. But if not, because the ground is wet, the radius of the spikes created would most likely hit both Rainen, and the second clone from being close to Revy's clones, and shocking them either way.

In order to keep herself from getting hit by the large attack, Revy hid behind the dome of earth that had been created, which was partially destroyed from the barrage of air needles it took earlier, though it managed to just hold as the nails of water pierced against it. Being that the real Rainen, as well as the clone with him were both very close to the source of the blast, they'd most likely get hit with every nail in their direction as it traveled outward from the water clones bodies. Though who knows for sure. Maybe they'd have something up their sleeves.

The clone that had landed close to the smoke kept his guard up while looking at the smoke. He had kept an eye on the enemy while he threw the kunai and had seen her dodge at the very last moment. One rule his father had always taught him; never let your guard down until you’ve seen your opponent’s corpse. He held his scythe in his right hand, keeping the thing horizontally across his torso. If he would need to block anything, he would be able to move the blade quickly. And he was right to do so, for it enabled him to quickly block the kunai that came flying at his torso out of the smoke. At the same time, two Revy’s charged out of the smoke. The clone that had deflected the kunai quickly ran to the real Rainen’s location to aid him destroying them. Just as he was within about a meter of the real Rainen, still running but about to hit the brakes, he noticed the two Revy’s halt their attack and jump back to back. In an instant, he noticed the two clones bringing their hands together, and knew they were going to cast ninjutsu at point-blank range. Realizing his creator might not be able to dodge from that distance the clone instead continued running and threw his full weight into a powerful shove, lifting the real Rainen slightly off the ground and pushing him back a good few meters just as the lightning sparked out of the ground, killing the clone just before the needles exploded. First, the real Rainen was angry thinking somehow his clone had turned against him, but when the clone dispersed as the lightning from bellow hit him, its memories and chakra returned to him, along with that of the clone that had been next to him and was now pierced by needles. The lightning hadn’t killed him, but the needles were coming in fast. Even though the shove had managed to distance him a few meters of the exploding clones before, the needles were still quick, and as the memory and chakra of the clone that he had left to deal with the doppelgangers entered him, the clone who had been less fortunate, he realized these water senbon were perfectly capable of killing him.

Before he touched the ground again, he made one single ram seal, his head slightly tilted to the ground, to perform the same jutsu he had used before to get out of the radius of the water splashes. But as the wind left his mouth to propel him both back and up at great enough speed to gain a short lead on the needles again, the first few nails had already reached him. And while the short electric discharge had already left them, they were still sharp. Most of them he managed to deflect by holding the scythe’s broad blade in front of his torso, but one of them, to the Akatsuki’s great anger, flew right over his shoulder, leaving a painful cut. If his mouth hadn’t been busy with blowing out wind chakra, blowing him over the diminishing lightning spark with a bow, he would’ve insulted her with every foul word he had ever heard of, and with some he simply invented on the spot. But instead, he simply placed one of his fingers on the wound, letting blood flow onto the hand. After he landed a meter behind the smoking hole in the ground from which the spark rose, he simply slammed the wet ground with his palm while figuring this was as good a time as any to give Revy a nice taste of his foul mouth.

”You filthy SKANK! You belong near the crapper, eating shit with the fucking roaches!”

And as if his insults were some kind of spell, a large blast of smoke emerged from the place where Rainen had slammed the palm, and the needles vanished into the smoke. As it partly cleared, the Mizukage would’ve been able to see a large figure standing in the muddy grass, about eleven meters high and holding an enormous shield in front of him, with the water needles sticking out of it slowly turning back to liquid and dripping off the shield together with the rain. Quickly, Rainen placed yet another finger on his wound and slammed the ground once more, a second poof of smoke being created while the first one hadn’t fully cleared up yet. During this short moment, multiple things happened. The creature that had been summoned first, a large shrew by the name of Gozu, would’ve put the shield back on his back and would’ve dived into the wet ground. From his height, he clearly saw the woman hiding beneath the low earth dome, and with his large size, traveling to her location, which was currently barely his length, took only a moment. If she would’ve moved, he would simply track her location through the sound of her footsteps. Quickly, he bursted out of the ground behind her and instantly slammed his shield into the ground, allowing the thing to act like a huge stone wall to prevent her from going backwards. A split second later, the shrew himself would’ve spat out a volley of bullet-like pebbles down on her in case she was planning to jump or run up the wall. The bullets themselves were perfectly capable of piercing flesh, but as they were shot from the mouth, they were automatically covered in poison saliva, meaning that one scratch would be enough to paralyze her for a short while. As short as the paralysis would’ve been, it was more than enough time for a shinobi to finish his opponent. Rainen would behead her with his scythe and take back her head to the Akatsuki base as a trophy. It would give him something new to brag about. But at the same time the bullets came down, a slightly smaller (but still enormous) shrew with red fur appeared in front of her, having dashed out of the smoke just a second before that moment, with Rainen on his head. This shrew, Rozu, unleashed a large stream of fire from his mouth right at the woman.

At that same moment, both Rainen and a shadow clone he had created while in the fog jumped out of the ground to her left and to her right, about five meters away from her and just out of the fire’s reach, and performed two quick hand seals which, despite not being as fast as Revy, took them very little time considering there were only two. Both of them simultaneously blew out a large gust of wind from their mouths, enough to blow the Mizukage back into the fire and the bullets should she choose to dodge to one of her sides. The gusts were large enough to cover a big area in front of them, so even if she would jump into the air to her right of left, the gusts would still push her back into the inferno. Excessive? Perhaps. But he wasn’t going to give her any chances. His opponent had proven to be the type of opponent who was skilled at dodging and dancing around attacks. Rainen had fought opponents like this before, and knew one of the best ways to deal with enemies like this was to simply give them nowhere to run.

Sorry, but once again you need to edit ^^'

The water nail explosion came right before the lightning jump, save for the one jump that had sparked beneath both clones. That of which wouldn't be very easy to see, as they exploded the immediate that jump sparked. And the explosion came FAST. The way your describing it in your post is as if my clones had been doing hand seals for a good 15 seconds before exploding. With their speed in hand seals, they'd of had those techniques done in a matter of a second.

Your twisting the organization of my post around far to much.

I don’t really see the problem. My clone arrived at the spot just as your clones started performing seal, still running but about to hit the brakes and land right next to the real me. While I get that your seals are fast, the shadow clone is about as powerful as the real deal, meaning his reaction time is equal to A-rank; a very skilled shinobi. This is even further enhanced by my special characteristic, which states my reaction time is very fast. Given the fact that he was still running and within a meter of the real me, and given the fact that shinobi already possess great running speed, I don’t see how it would be illogical for my clone to see yours perform seals and think Oshit and shove the real me out of harm’s way. Even though your seals only took a second and appeared as a blur, he still would’ve seen you put your hands together etc. And the fact that your clones suddenly halted their attack and jumped back to back would've at least raised suspicion that they were going to do something.

Read it a few times over again if you have to. Your reaction time isn't the problem. It's fine. But you twisted the organization of my post around far to much, and your giving yourself a lot more time then my post was set up to give you.
